Standing on the Character of God

Nov 13, 2024

Knowing God’s character helps us understand our position with Him and gives us confidence to receive His promises which activates those promises in our lives.

Romans 2:11 had a huge impact on my spiritual journey because it gave me insight into the very character and nature of God as well as letting me know my position with him:

Romans 2:9-11 ESV: Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.

Romans 2:9-11 TPT: Anyone who does evil can expect tribulation and distress—to the Jew first and also to the non-Jew. But when we do what pleases God, we can expect unfading glory, true honor, and a continual peace-to the Jew first and also to the non-Jew, for God sees us all without partiality.

God does not play favorites. Generally speaking, what He will do for one person, He will do for another. (Specifics are determined by the individual callings and purposes of our lives). So when I was lacking peace (and other things), but others had it, I wanted to know why. I determined that God is not a liar (Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2, Hebrews 6:18). I determined that if there was a discrepancy then it had to do with my life not God’s principles. I determined there was something I was missing and wanted to live in the fullness of God. There was something God had for me that I was not receiving. If others can live in the fullness of God, then so can I because God is not a respecter of persons. And maybe, just maybe if I was living in anguish then there was some unresolved evil in my life that needed to be dealt with (as the scripture states).

So many people fall into the enemy’s trap of believing they are just stuck where they are, nothing will ever change, and their life will never get better. Trust is put in what the enemy is saying over what God is saying. Where our trust is placed determines who/what we follow.

Trust in the character of God. Trust in His Word…fully…not partially. Begin to speak in alignment with His Word because our words have power (Proverbs 18:21, Ephesians 4:29, Proverbs 12:18, Matthew 12:36, Proverbs 21:23). Imagine the power that speaking/praying the Word of God could have in your life. It is a living transformative power (Hebrews 4:12).

Praying that you come to know the true nature of God so you are able to receive and walk in the fullness of His promises.
